The Life & Times of Colmworth Electronics

A Kitting Odyssey

Colmworth Electronics took its first breath over 26 years ago and the highly attentive value added entity started its adventure.  After the brutality of birth and through brand new eyes Colmworth immediately started to fulfil its raison d'être, improving the profitability of electronics manufacturers.

Born literally in the middle of some fields in the Bedfordshire village of Colmworth back in 1991 and during a recession, it had to fight for its place in the world with its very first steps.  At the same time the world was on the cusp of a new dawn in electronics.  On the horizon, was computers in the home, mobile phones and then smartphones, tablets, the rolling out of barcode scanning, wireless tech, medical tech, personal trackers and so much more.  Every company, every designer wanted to integrate miniaturised electronic components into their products.

In just a few short years we out grew this quiet beautiful village location and needed to be closer to a town with hustle & bustle and major roads nearby.  St.Neots became our new home and with it came another growth spurt.  Our team expanded as Colmworth’s strength grew, new blood for new demand.

This home lasted for a few years until, sharing desks and chairs, almost sitting on each other’s laps finally got to us.  It was time again for Colmworth to find a new home, one with enough growing room for a twenty something to enjoy.

A brand new development was being completed in St.Neots and the units had more than enough room to house this soon to be twenty year old.  Colmworth Business Park became the perfect new home and it seemed as though Colmworth Electronics had returned to its birth place.

Over the last 26 years Colmworth Electronics has the battle scars and wisdom of having navigated its way through three recessions.  It is these events which have forged our determination to keep providing evermore adaptable services to our clients, to ensure they have the best chance of success.

As we rocket towards our 30th, we see even more opportunities on the horizon.  The UK extracting itself out of the EU, giving the UK the freedom to make its own decisions, and move unencumbered on opportunities it creates for itself.  Industries experiencing massive growth through mining data and using it for example in the fields of Biometrics, AI, Robotics with innovations in breath tests for cancer, transacting Crypto-currencies, robots performing brain surgery and computers diagnosing mental and physical diseases and disorders.

And that’s just for starters…
